Swedish Clock w/Carved Floral Bonnet

Swedish Clock w/Carved Floral Bonnet | Item# 498

23"width 9.5"depth 82.5"height

A Swedish grandfather clock from the 19th century. This antique floor clock from central Sweden features a lovely raised bonnet adorn with petite carved flowers and a delicately etched diamond-lattice motif. The underside of round-shaped head is decorated with a series of notched carvings, while the lower neck and underside of the traditional raindrop-shaped body, are accentuated with curved trim molding. This piece is nicely raised upon it's flat sided base with open scalloped front. The clock has a natural wood finish with highlighted accents. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains it's original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition. However, it can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful. A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This 1820's Swedish long-case clock would be a great decorative addition to a bedroom, kitchen, or family room.

Price: $5,900.
