Swedish Floor Clock w/Nice Carved Accents
This Item Is On HoldA 19th century painted wood Swedish long-case clock with distinct curvy rain-drop shaped belly. This antique floor clock from Sweden has an elongated arch crest atop it's head, with carvings and trimmed accents about it's edges and repeated about the circular face. The original metal face is boldly numbered, with quartered second markers at it's north, east, south, and west sides. Particularly noteworthy are the ornately stylized hands. The belly is adorn with a medallion at center, with a molded trim accent at waist and neck. The lower section of the clock has been generously carved with foliage and volute accents, and is raised upon a flat base. The clock has been dry-scraped with areas of dark teal/green, light blue, taupe and areas of wood emerging through the layers of paint. This clock would be wonderful as a decorative object as it is not currently in working condition. However, the clock can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. Its original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. This clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful). A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind its glass opening. This Swedish 19th century floor clock would be a lovely addition to an entryway, living room, or office.
