19th Century Long-case Clock, Sweden

19th Century Long-case Clock, Sweden | Item# 500

25.5"width 10"depth 84.5"height

A 19th century Swedish long-case clock with dry-scraped finish. This antique clock from Sweden, circa 1820's, is topped with a subtly raised and carved crest, atop a round-shaped head. A nicely trimmed molding accents the neck , just above the traditionally raindrop shaped belly, with circular window at it's center, and additional trim molding defines the waist. The clock is raised on a molded and flat base with small lifts at each corner giving the slightest appearance of lift from the floor. The clock has a dry scraped finish with various shades of a muted, creamy apricot and beige. This clock would be wonderful as a decorative object and is not currently in working condition, but can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful). A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This 19th century Swedish clock would look fabulous adorning an entryway, bedroom, or kitchen.

Price: $6,000
