Swedish Floor Clock w/Foliage Accents
A 19th century painted wood Swedish long-case clock with distinct curvy rain-drop shaped belly. This antique floor clock from Sweden has an elongated arch crest, with hollowed area between the the top of the head, carved at center with floral embellishments, and clear glass windows are set at each side. Trim accents decorate the framed edges about the circular face. The original metal face is boldly numbered in a cursive style script, with delicately stylized metal hands gracing the center. The belly is adorn with a floral bowed trim accent highlighting the circular window. The lower section of the clock has been generously carved with foliage and volute accents. The clock has a scraped finish in a light green/blue with hints of green, blue, grey, & cream with areas of wood emerging through the layers of paint. A subtle slate blue/grey color accentuates the trim. This clock would be wonderful as a decorative object as it is not currently in working condition. However, the clock can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. Its original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. This clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful). A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind its glass opening. This Swedish 19th century floor clock would be a lovely addition to an entryway, living room, or office.
