Swedish Floor Clock w/Original Teal Color
A 19th century Swedish painted Fryksdahl clock with it's original teal color. This Fryksdahl clock features a rounded head, original metal face & clock movements, petite carved scrolls and delicate florettes flanking the neck, and reeded front side. The waist is accentuated with a swag which terminates into small scrolls at each side, and middle section adorn with a fan carving. This nicely curved clock, typical of the Fryksdahl style, rests on a flatly molded base. This clock retains much of it's original teal blue coloring with a fabulous patina throughout. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains it's original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition, but can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful). A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This Swedish 1820's Fryksdahl clock with reeded carvings and original paint would be lovely in a foyer, living room or family room.
