Antique Swedish Floor Clock in Blue & Taupe
This Item Is Is SoldA Swedish painted wood grandfather clock from the 19th century. This antique floor clock from central Sweden features a sweetly raised arch-shaped bonnet adorned with petite carved foliage above a reed-carved banding, with its original metal face which is adorned with roman numeral time, and lovely gold-tone hands. The lower neck and underside of the traditional raindrop-shaped body are accentuated with curved trim molding. This piece is raised upon a flat sided base with open scalloped front. The clock has a blue finish with taupe colored accents. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains its original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition. However, it can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful). A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This 1820's Swedish long-case clock would be a great decorative addition to a bedroom, kitchen, or family room.
