An Attractive 1820's Sweden Fryksdahl Clock
This Item Is Is SoldA 19th century Swedish Fryksdahl clock with elaborately accented crown and neck. This Fryksdahl clock is full of decorative accents throughout which enhance and accentuate this shapely clock. The crest or crown features a carved, raised swirl atop a c-scroll and volute headpiece, petite carved flowers flank each neck side, which is decorated with a star at center with scrolling trimmed sides. The underside of the belly is defined at the waist with belted molding with scrolled ends. This nicely curved clock, typical of the Fryksdahl style, rests on a flat base. This clock is has a soft taupe/grey palette with subtle hints of green and blues showing through in various areas. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains it's original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition, but can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful. A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This Swedish 1820's Fryksdahl clock would be lovely in a living room, hall or entry.
