Antique Fryksdahl Floor Clock from Sweden
A 19th century Swedish Fryksdahl grandfather clock. This antique Fryksdahl clock from Sweden features a beautifully raised and carved crest, petite flowers on either end of a swag molding and volute accents at the neck with a central star. The original metal face, and delicate hands, are housed within the rounded head with front glass door which can be opened at left. This nicely curved clock, typical of the Fryksdahl style, rests on a flat base which is raised slightly on rail style feet along each side. This primarily color palette is that of cream, tan and charcoals, consisting of both older and newer paints. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains it's original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition, but can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful). A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This Swedish 1820's Fryksdahl clock would be a fabulous way to great guests in a entry foyer, or a wonderful decorative piece for the living room.
