Antique Northern Swedish Tall Floor Clock
An early 19th century Northern Swedish painted wood grandfather clock with nice trimmings. This antique floor clock from Norrbotten county, Sweden (Northern region) features a nicely carved, exaggerated and raised top crest adorn with petite flower heads and leaf accents about a center pierce-carved medallion. Neck and belly are accented with trim molding. The circular glass center at belly allows the pendulum to be viewed. The clock rests upon a flat base at sides with shallow skirt carved along front-side. The color palette is primarily a blue/gray with a tan/wood tone accent trim, and some subtle hints of gold about the face. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains it's original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition. However, it can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful. A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This Swedish 1820's Norrbotten county clock will be a handsome addition to any home or office.
