Northern Swedish Long-Case Clock, 19th C.

Northern Swedish Long-Case Clock, 19th C. | Item# 518

26"width 7.5"depth 89.25"height

A Northern Swedish grandfather clock with scraped finish from the 19th century. This antique clock from Norrbotten county, Sweden (Northern region) is crowned with a nicely exaggerated, and pierced-carved crest with foliage motif and small bird at it's top. Neck and belly are accentuated with trim molding, and the circular glass center allows the pendulum to be viewed. The clock rests upon a flat base at sides with shallow accolade-carved skirt along front-side. This 1820's clock has a scraped finish with a gray color highlighting the various carved accents. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains it's original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition. However, it can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful. A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This Swedish 1820's Norrbotten county clock would be a great statement piece for a foyer, living room or bed room.
