This Item Is On HoldA Swedish Fryksdahl floor clock with shapely body and carved crown from the 19th century. This antique Fryksdahl clock from Sweden has a raised crest which is carved in c-scroll motif flanked within a pair of carved-leaves, atop a rounded head, and nicely adorn neck with star accent at center. Though perhaps the most striking element of this clock is it's fabulously curvy shape! A bulbous teardrop belly is accentuated with swagged trim molding about the waist. The case/belly door has a round-glass window at center as to view the pendulum. And this beautifully curved clock, typical of the Fryksdahl style, rests on a flat base. This clock has been scraped to it's original finish; a palette which consists of various shades of blue, navy, cobalt, and teal. The wood grain showing through in areas, and there are a few newer touch-ups. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains it's original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition. However, the clock can be quartzed to keep perfect time, at an additional cost. A quartz battery would be added behind the face. And the original hands (which are too heavy to carry the quartz movement) would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful. A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This antique Swedish Fryksdahl floor clock would be quite a splendid addition to your living room or entry foyer.
