Swedish 19th C. Pretty "Blonde" Floor Clock
This Item Is Is SoldA Swedish carved and bleached wood Fryksdahl floor clock from the 19th century. This antique Fryksdahl grandfather clock from Sweden features a raised crest with carved-spiral and petite star motif atop a round-shaped head adorn with petite flower head accents flanking either side of the neck, along with a central star and scrolling embellishments. The teardrop-shaped bulbous belly (typical of Frysdahl style) is further emphasized with belted trim and a slender waist. This piece is raised on shallow bracket style carved feet. This clock has a beautiful bleached-wood finish, which gives this gal her gorgeous "blonde" appearance. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains it's original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition. However, the clock can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. Since the original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, they would be changed to black hands, but remaining similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful). A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This Swedish 1820's Fryksdahl tall floor clock would be lovely in a foyer, living room or family room.
