Swedish Antique Fryksdahl Longcase Clock
A Swedish Fryksdahl painted and carved wood floor clock from the late 18th to early 19th century. This antique Fryksdahl clock from Sweden is full of decorative accents throughout which enhance and accentuate this shapely clock. The crest or crown features a carved, raised swirl atop a c-scroll and volute headpiece, carved embellishments flank each neck side, and the lower clock section at front has a fabulously carved and textured surface. The underside of the belly is defined at the waist with belted molding with scrolled ends. This nicely curved clock, typical of the Fryksdahl style, rests on a flat base. This clock is has a sea blue/green and teal palette with gray accents. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains it's original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition, but can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful. A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This late 18th century Swedish Fryksdahl clock would be lovely in a living room, hall or entry.
