A Swedish Fryksdahl floor clock in blue, with shapely body and floral-carved crown from the 19th century. This antique Fryksdahl clock from Sweden features a sweet floral carved crest, raised upon a pair of scrolling foliage, resting atop a rounded head with face adorn with hand-painted roman numerals. The neck is embellished with scrolls, and a star accent at center. And typical of Fryksdahl clocks, is it's fabulously curvy shape! A bulbous teardrop belly is accentuated with swag trim molding about the waist, with carved diamonds across the front. The case/belly door has a round-glass window at center as to view the pendulum. This piece is presented upon a flat stacked base. This clock has a custom painted finish, along with some traces of original paint; a palette which consists of various shades of blue, primarily in teal and cobalt hues, with wood grain showing through in some areas. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains it's original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition. The clock could however, be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost (please inquire prior to purchase). A quartz battery can be added behind the face, and the original hands (which are too heavy to carry the quartz movement) would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful. A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This 19th century Swedish Fryksdahl long case clock, with shapely body and fun blue coloring, will make a spectacular decorative addition to your home.
