Swedish Fryksdahl Grandfather Clock, 19th C

Swedish Fryksdahl Grandfather Clock, 19th C | Item# 538

23.5"width 8.5"depth 80"height

A 19th century Swedish painted Fryksdahl clock scraped to it's original finish. This antique Fryksdahl clock from Sweden has a rounded head, and retains its original metal face (with hand-painted numbers) & original clock movements. Gently carved swags emphasizing the underside of the neck. The waist is accentuated with a swag which terminates into small scrolls at each side. This nicely curved clock, typical of the Fryksdahl style, rests on a flatly molded base, that is raised upon four small bun style feet. This clock has been scraped to it's original finish, with a bluish-purple, and cream, and yam color palette and a fabulous patina throughout. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains it's original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition. However, the clock can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost (please contact us prior to purchase should you wish to discuss this option). A quartz battery would be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful). A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This Swedish 1820's Fryksdahl clock, scraped to its original paint, will be lovely statement in an entry foyer, living room or family room.

Price: $6,440.
