Swedish 19th Century Fryksdahl Floor Clock
A Swedish Fryksdahl floor clock, with its original painted finish, from the 19th century. This antique Fryksdahl clock from Sweden has a rounded head, the neck adorned with a star accent at center flanked within a pair of scrolling volutes. The star accent is continued below the waist. Though perhaps the most striking element of this clock is its fabulously curvy shape! A bulbous teardrop belly is accentuated with a cinched waist. The case/belly door has a round-glass window at center as to view the pendulum. And this beautifully curved clock, typical of the Fryksdahl style, rests on a flat base. This clock retains most of its original finish; a palette which consists of various shades of blue/green, yam, and bronze. This clock will make a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains its original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition. However, for an additional cost, the clock can be quartzed to keep perfect time. If done, a new quartz battery would be added behind the face. The original hands (which are too heavy to carry the quartz movement) would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful. A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This antique Swedish Fryksdahl floor clock would be quite a splendid addition to your living room or entry foyer.
