Swedish Fryksdahl Grandfather Clock, 7.5 Ft
A Swedish Fryksdahl floor clock from the 19th century. This antique Fryksdahl clock from Sweden, circa 1820's, has a beautifully carved crest/bonnet top over its rounded head, with petite flowers and volute accents embellishing the neck. The tear drop shaped belly has a glass window at center, and waistline is accentuated with a swag trim with volute tips. This nicely curved clock, typical of the Fryksdahl style, rests on a flat base. This clock has a primarily scraped wood finish, with muted green trim accents. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains it's original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition. For an additional fee, it can be quartzed (please contact our showroom prior to purchase to discuss). A new quartz battery can be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful). A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This early 19th century Swedish Fryksdahl clock, with its elegant shape and delicate accents, would be lovely in a entry foyer, hall or living room.
