Bronze Cross set in 21K Gold Ring
This Item Is Is SoldA Byzantine Bronze Cross, from between the IV and VI centuries, set in 21 Karat Matte Gold as a Fashion Ring. The Byzantine Era ran from the 300s to the fall of Constantinople and the Eastern Roman Empire in the 1450's, at which time, the area fell to the Ottoman Empire. The vast area of Byzantium spanned from the Mediterranean coast of Italy to Eurasia. This 21 karat gold matte ring is soft to the touch, and extremely light. The band is thin and feels delicate on the finger; the coin is set flush in the band (vs on top of it). This deeply patinaed bronze ring, possibly an intaglio or made with lost wax casting, is a wonderful artifact from the Byzantine era with the unique embellishment of 21 karat gold by a contemporary artisan. Truly unique and one of kind!
