Swedish 19th C. Floor Clock, Lyre Motif
This Item Is Is SoldA 19th century Swedish floor clock. This antique grandfather clock from Sweden features a wonderful eye catching lyre shaped motif in the otherwise rectangular belly, where you traditionally find a round opening. The round head is topped with a round finial and shelters a nicely aged face. This clock is a blue-green color with some traces of grey. Some wood is visible through the paint. The trim on this clock is a nicely aged brown color with some more subtle green and grey accents included. This clock would be wonderful as a decorative object and is not currently in working condition, but can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful.) A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening.
