A Mexican wedding chest on table top stand from the early 20th century. This antique folk-art trunk from Mexico still retains it's original hand-painted diamond-patterned banding about the top of the chest. A floral plaque is placed at chest front, and old yellow/gold paint outlines the lines of the trunk and table top. The trunk rests upon a table-height base (making this a 2-piece set) with skirt carved to mimic details within the chest, and raised on four nicely turned legs. Great, natural patina showing wear consistent with age and history of use. This primitive Mexican trunk has tons of character and would make a great blanket chest.
