19th C. Chinoiserie Painted 3-Seat Bench
An English three-chair back bench with cane seat and original paint from the 19th century. This antique wooden bench from England features three back rests, carved with plaque-shaped centers flanked within delicate ball and spindle frames, and a hand-woven cane seat. The top rail is adorn with three gently swaged neck rests along the top, and shoulders which gracefully move downward, terminating where knuckles meet front side posts. The skirt, arms and backs are all elegantly embellished in a primarily gold chinoiserie of painted scenery; a lovely contract against the black frame. This piece is nicely presented upon rounded front legs which terminate into toupie style feet, with back legs being squared with a slight sabre. This 19th century English bench, with three seats and hand-painted chinoiserie, will be a welcoming seating addition for your entry foyer, living or sunroom.
