Early 19th Sofa Bench Lindome, Sweden
A Swedish Lindome carved-wood sofa bench from the early 19th century. This period Gustavian bench comes from the Lindome region of Sweden; a region known for master craftsman in wood working. Nicely carved spindle back splats are set within a straight but ornately molded frame, with a pair of fruit-carved accents crowning the top. The arms are a continuation of the back, with the same ornate frame with spindles. The skirt is carved in the same style as the frame above, and is also decorated with a pair of carved-fruit which hang within each center section, and sweet flower heads embellish the knees. The sofa is presented upon six squared legs, which gently taper towards their feet. It has been scraped to its mostly original finish, with hues in white, pale sea-green and some subtle hints of red. This early 19th century Swedish Lindome sofa bench would be a classic and sophisticated piece within an entry hall, living room, or perhaps a bedroom seating option.
