A Swedish late Gustavian Period carved and painted wood sofa bench from the early 19th century. This antique sofa bench from Sweden features a high back and arms comprised of a linear top rail with flattened, column-style carved slats set across the backside and both sides. The apron is lined in clean/straight molding about the skirt and this piece is presented on six squared and tapered legs. The gray/blue coloring is typical of the Swedish desire for light and soft colors which help bringing light to the rooms during the very dark winters. This early 19th century Swedish Gustavian sofa bench would look great with a the addition of a custom seat cushion and some nice throw pillows to make it your own!
