Italian Neoclassical Console, c. 1830
An Italian Neoclassical parcel-gilt and white painted console table, circa 1830. This fine antique Neoclassical style table from Italy features a rectangular-shaped honed stone top, which rests within a carved lip, atop a skirt with richly carved foliage and leaf motif on three sides. There are two front legs flanking either table end, which bow inward towards the underside, both having carved lion head's at their tops and terminating at their bottoms into paw feet. The under, backside of the table is solid, and is adorn with a large acanthus leaf medallion at it's center within beautiful volute and scroll carvings. The base of the table has a semi-circular convex shape, nice carved trim molding with floral and acanthus leaf motif at it's back corners. This table is parcel-gilt and old white paint with much of the wood grain showing. The white honed stone top is a more recent addition. This Italian 19th century console wall table, is sure to be an eye-catching addition to any home, perhaps decorating a entryway or living room area.
