Swedish Gate-Leg Table, Early 19th C.
A Swedish painted-wood table with gate legs from the early 19th century. This antique table from Sweden features clean, simple lines, a painted wood top with rounded corners with two nicely-sized drop leaves. The table is supported with a rectangular central frame and a pair of gate legs which swing out to support the tops when extended. The way in which the gate legs are designed on this piece, give excellent clearance for seating at either end (perhaps a great use for a crafting table or double desk). The top of this piece is painted in blue tones, which contrasts nicely against the more natural color of the base/legs. This 19th century Swedish table offers great functionality, as it is narrow when the leaves are both down and can be used in many spaces, but easily converts into a larger table when needed for group gatherings, extra dining or work space.Dimensions
