A French 19th Century Jeweler's Table
A French jeweler's work bench table from the early 19th century. This unusual French table was originally used during the early 19th century by a jewelry maker, as a work bench for designing. The table features a mostly rectangular-shaped top with concave cut out along front side, with a small center drawer at middle underside, and a leather catch that is attached (and removable) suspended beneath that would allow the jeweler to catch fine filings and pieces. The table top has a raised lip along three sides (which would help keep those precious stones from rolling off onto the floor). There is a wonderful old patina to both the wood and the leather, reflecting the history and age of this piece. The table is raised on four squared legs with and H-crossed stretcher. This unique 19th century jeweler's table would make an great conversational accent piece within a room, or perhaps it to be re-envisioned as something entirely different; as a sink base perhaps?!
