Antique Naga Grain Grinding Coffee Table
This Item Is Is SoldA large Naga carved-wood grain table from the early 20th century. This antique piece (now coffee table) from Nagaland, India was originally use by the Naga tribes of North East India, as a table for grinding grains such as millet. The three holes within the center are where the grains would be held and ground using long poles. The wood a rich, dark brown with a slight sheen and yummy old patina from history of prior use. This table has been carved out of a single log and has a newer addition of a custom rectangular-shaped, stacked metal stand at it's base which adds nice stability and presentation. Please note that the surface is not completely flat. This early 20th century Nagaland grinding table would work well where a large sized coffee table is needed, or perhaps within a commercial setting, as a functional conversational statement piece- adding warmth and texture.
