Swedish 48" Pedestal Desk, Early 19th C.
A Swedish pedestal curly birch desk, circa 1820-40. This antique desk from Sweden features a four foot long, rectangular-shaped top which overhangs the apron below that houses three drawers set horizontally at its underside, and resting upon on a pair of pedestal bases. There are lower drawers concealed behind the door fronts of the pedestals; the left side pedestal door opens to reveal three drawers, and right pedestal door opens to a pair of smaller drawers at top with open storage space beneath. Curly birch veneer adorns much of the desk. At one point the interior drawers and backsides of doors have been painted in various colors. The backside of this piece remains unfinished, therefore best use would be placed against a wall. This early 19th century Swedish desk breaks down into three pieces (as can be seen in the additional images) making for easier transport and installation.Dimensions
