French Console Table w/Fabulous Carved Legs
A French elaborately-carved and painted wood console table from the mid 20th century. This mid-century table from France has a rectangular-shaped top which is just over 7 feet in length, with recessed-stack molding adorning its underside and presented atop a pair of doubled legs at each far side; each stout leg carved in a scroll and acanthus leaf motif, and raised on v-carved platform feet with medallion carvings, and a cylindrical flute and reed carved post at backsides. A central support leg, with finial style body, braces the middle/underside of the table and attaches to the horizontal beam-brace with carved flower head at its center, and continues to the floor on a carved foot. Carved bell flowers add further embellishments to this piece. The table is carved on all sides, allowing it to be floated within a room. There is a new custom finish in a wash of blue/grays (with wood grain still showing through in many areas) with more of a green hue accenting the trim, and top edge. This French vintage table, with fabulous & robustly carved legs and supports, would function exquisitely as a large console, sofa table, or perhaps as a dining room server.
