Italian Stretcher Table, Early 19th C.
An Italian wood table with iron stretcher from the early 19th century. This antique table from Italy features a rectangular-shaped top supported by a pair of outwardly titled, trestle styled legs at either side, and supported by beautiful forged-iron stretchers at underside, whose shape is reminiscent of an ogee arch. The curvy iron stretchers are adorn with several disc shaped decorative pieces. The turned legs are braced by carved wood supports, which have nicely scalloped bottoms. The wood and iron both have a lovely old patina. This early 19th century Italian stretcher table, just under 4 feet in width, is a good size for an entry console, but quite versatile with its possibilities for use throughout the home.
