18th C. French Neoclassical Console Table
A French Neoclassical beautifully-carved wood wall console, with original serpentine marble top, from the 18th century. This period Neoclassic table from France has a shapely serpentine marble top with flattened backside which is raised upon a wood frame with pierce-carved apron adorn with a carved shell at center flanked within hanging floral garland swags, and pair of elegant acanthus leaf-carved legs, which terminate into petite volute scrolls at feet. The legs are braced together just above their feet, with an ornately carved cross-stretcher bar, with center platform topped with a three dimensional floral bouquet in an urn with s-scroll handles and acanthus leaves wrapping the vessel. The natural wood tone is complimented with a light gray accent color. The marble top, which we believe to be the original top, is primarily gray and light brown with off-white veining. Prior holes have been set at rear of the table apron, which allows it to be secured to the wall (recommend for security). This 18th century French marble-top table, will make a fabulous entry console for a foyer or living room; adding a sophisticated Neoclassical element to your home.
