Neoclassic Italian Console w/Marble, 18th C
An Italian smaller-sized Neoclassical period carved and painted wood marble top console from the 18th century. This antique table from Italy features a rectangular-shaped marble top, which rests above an apron adorned with a male face within garlands and scrolling foliage repeatedly carved about three sides. The apron corners are embellished with lion and flower head carvings. The table is raised on four rounded and tapering legs, carved at knees with bulbous petal-wrapped accents, and hanging garland down the legs. The wood has a gilt and paint finish, with a lovely patina. The marble top swirls in hues of gray, tan, and rusty red. It is old, but likely not the original top. Note that the backside of the table is unfinished, so best use to be placed against a wall. This 18th century Italian Neoclassic console table is a cute size at approximately 2.5 feet in width; a great problem solver when a smaller table is needed!
