Late 18th c. French Marble Top Side Table

Late 18th c. French Marble Top Side Table | Item# 1914

22"width 15"depth 29.75"height

A French petite-sized marble top side table, with urn carved finial at underside, from the turn of the 18th and 19th century. This antique table from France, which once belonged to Pamela Churchill Harriman (former US Ambassador to France), is a fabulous little table! It features a brown marble top, with accentuated and canted front corners, which rests atop an apron with a hand-carved entwined circular pattern with delicate flower heads within each center. Each front canted corner is adorn with a carved rosette. The table is raised upon four rounded and fluted legs, which gently taper towards their feet. A Curvy x-style carved stretcher braces the table just about the feet, with a three-dimensionally carved finial, draped in floral garland swags, presented at intersecting center beneath the table. The backside of the table is un-adorn and marble is flatted, making best use for this piece to be placed against a wall. Note that the marble top is removable, making ease for transport (and also has a great little hiding place inside for valuable keepsakes!). This late 18th century French carved and marble top table is a cute size making for a great little console or end table. And with historical reference that makes it a wonderful conversational piece too!

Price: $5,600.
