18th C. Spanish Carved-Walnut Desk
A handsome Spanish walnut desk, with trestle-legs and forged-iron stretchers, from the 18th century. This antique table from Spain has a rectangular-shaped top (with iron wraps at corner edges), which overhangs the apron below that houses a pair of decoratively-paneled and carved drawers set side-by-side, and is raised upon a pair of outwardly-canted, nicely turned, trestle-styled legs, with a squared wood brace supporting them just above the feet. The opposite side of the apron is also carved, and "appears" to have drawers, but they are faux/only decorative, but this makes the desk a wonderful option to be floated within a room! The underside of the table is braced by a pair of hand-forged iron stretchers, adorn with disc shapes and scrolled ends at their lower ends, creating visual interest and further embellishment to this piece. The walnut wood has has a warm patina and some cracks, and some wood losses (see images for further detail), but we find it a lovely reflection of it's history and age. Leg clearance is approximately 24.5" between skirt and floor. This 18th century Spanish trestle leg desk with iron stretchers is just shy of 4.5 feet in length.
