Exquisite Pair of 18th C. Venetian Consoles
An Italian Venetian pair of ornately carved and painted wood console tables from the 18th century. This antique pair of Venetian tables from Italy have been designed with elaborate and curvaceous details. Each featuring tops with serpentine shaped front-sides, atop pierce-carved skirts decorated in a rhythmic display of c-scrolls on three sides, and having a putto prominently displayed at front/center. The tables are presented upon four shapely legs, each outlined in a succession of scrolls, and artistically painted with a delicate floral motif. A cross style carved stretcher, which maintains the fantastic lines and painted finish as the legs, has an urn-shaped finial rising up from the center at underside of the table, and meets at each leg to brace them just above their exquisitely carved paw feet. There is a hand-painted, faux marble finish on the tops, in a palette of various green hues, which has had some prior losses and has some areas of paint restoration. The backside of these demi style tables is flat along their tops, so as to be placed snug against a wall. These magnificent 18th century Venetian elaborately-carved and painted wood consoles, paired together, make a statement of opulence and luxury!
