A Primitive Naga Grinding Table
A Naga table from the early 20th century. This table from Nagaland, India was originally use by the Naga tribes of North East India as a grinding (for grains such as Millet) table. The three holes within the center are where the grains would be held and ground with long poles (please see the additional picture to view how this was done at the Konyak festival.) The wood a rich, dark brown with a slight sheen. This table has been carved out of a single log and would make for a great coffee table and conversational piece. Please note that the surface is not completely flat.
