An Italian pair of carved and gilt wood pedestals from the early 20th century. This antique pair of architectural pedestal columns from Italy, standing approximately three feet in height, are gesso and gilt over wood. The round-shaped and fluted shafts have flattened tops and bottoms ornate with hand-carved, curled acanthus leaf motif details typical Roman Corinthian fashion. The gold gilt finish is enhanced by a wonderful patina, warmth about the leaves, and great chippy bits. These antique Italian Corinthian pedestals, with their smooth and flat tops, are ready to display your perfectly potted plants, or sculptural works of art within your home. There are two measurements for the top of the column: 8.25" diameter at narrowest (to place a vase or other decorative object) 8.63" diameter at widest The base is 18" x 18"
