18th C. Flemish Free-Standing Book Press
A Flemish free-standing book press from the 18th century, possibly older. This antique book press from Belgium is a fabulous piece of decorative art on its own. Standing approximately 5.5 feet in height, this oak wood piece is comprised of a free-standing book press flanked at either topside with finials, atop a table base with single drawer housed in its apron, a nicely detailed and pierce-carved skirt, and lower, open shelf at bottom. This book press is raised on beautifully turned baluster style legs which terminate into onion shaped feet. This piece retains its original finish with a gorgeous old patina, in traces of black, showing its rich history and age. This 18th century Flemish book press would be a wonderful decorative object for a study or other living area; a great piece to fill a corner or to be floated within a room.
