Antique Acanthus Leaf Candle Sconces, Italy

An Italian pair of acanthus carved single-candle wall sconces from the early 20th century. This antique pair of wall decorations from Italy each feature elegantly hand-carved scrolling acanthus leaf plaques, full of beautiful ribbing and texture. Lightly carved floral outlines further embellish the voided spots within the front of the wooden backplates. A single carved-wood arm, maintaining the scrolled acanthus leaf theme, gently protrudes out from the center bottom, each terminating into a ruffled metal leaf bobèche, ready to receive a single candlestick within it's center. The coloring of these pieces is primarily a silver/bronze with some areas of cream and black. Please note that these are candle light fixtures, therefore they are not wired. This pair of early 20th century Italian candle sconces would look beautiful flanking an entryway, living room, or bedroom wall.
