18th C. French Carved-Wood Pier Mirror
A French carved wood trumeau mirror, with country manor themed carvings, from the 19th century. This antique mirror from France is rectangular-shaped, set in vertical fashion, and features an arched crest top, with raised carvings adorning the upper wood surround with a French horn, pheasant, arrow, florals, and a ribbon bow at top- giving this piece a hunter's theme. The mirror is set below within a molded outer with flower heads carved at each corner. Bead and barrel trim carvings are found along the mirror's inner surround. The gilt and finish is quite old, but unsure if it is original to this piece. This 19th century French mirror stands just under 5.5 feet in height, and with its slender proportions, would work beautifully between a pair of windows, or as a way to add visual interest and light at the end of a hallway.
