French Trumeau Mirror w/Orig. Glass, 19th C
A French trumeau mirror, with nice trim accents and its original mirror, from the 19th century. This antique mirror from France has been embellished with beautifully carved-trim accents (petite bead, ribbon spirals, egg-n-dart, etc) within the tall, rectangular shaped frame, typical of trumeau design with wooden plaque-style top over mirror below. It is a nicely sized mirror, just over 7 feet in height, and has a lovely wood grain and patina. This piece retains its original mirror, with nice aging and foxing. Note that the glass is in two pieces (as shown in our secondary images), as it was common for glass to be cut into smaller pieces and framed together for the illusion of one, due to a high taxation of glass during this time (interesting history!). Please note that there is a small crack in the lower corner of this mirror. This 19th century French pier or trumeau mirror would be a wonderful way to emphasize height in a room with tall ceilings.
