Set of 4 English Wooden Library Armchairs

An English set of four school library armchairs from the mid 20th century. These vintage chairs from England, originally school chairs, have tub-style top rails which slope down to make up the armrests. Backs have curved lumbar spindles, with open areas between the backrests and arms. Seat rails are clean and straight. Chairs are each supported upon four legs, with rear legs having a more shapely sabre design. The legs are supported with H-style wooden stretchers. The wood has a nice bleached finish. Arm height for this set of chairs is approximately 28" and the seat height is 18.5".
