Italian Chest w/Orig. Marble Top, c. 1790
An Italian raised two-drawer chest, with its original marble top, from the late 18th century. This antique chest from Italy retains its original marble top, which rests atop a case beautifully adorn in veneered inlays and banding, which houses two full-sized drawers, and is raised on spade style legs with squared brass feet. The drawers are fitted with quite nice wreath-style hardware ring pulls. The veneer and inlay designs embellish the drawer fronts, either cabinet side, and a slender band which runs vertically down each front side post/leg. The marble is primarily salmon colored and quite unusual and lovely. Please note that there have been some prior repairs to the veneer- commensurate with the age of this piece, and that the backside has been replaced (refer to images for further detail). This Italian chest, circa 1790, with marble top and fabulous inlays, will make a wonderful case-piece perfect for a foyer, office or living room.
