Italian Side Chests w/Inlay Banding, 19th C
An Italian pair of two-drawer raised side chests with inlay banding, from the early 19th century. These antique smaller-sized chests from Italy have been designed in nice, clean/linear lines, allowing the beautifully veneered wood grain and inlay banding to speak for their simple elegance. The chests each house two drawers, adorn with a double rectangular outline of darker/ebonized wood banding, and fitted with a minimalist key-hole escutcheon at center. Each side continues the double rectangular banding motif, with one pair atop the other in keeping with the drawers. The chests are presented nicely upon four gently tapering squared legs. Please note that there have been some prior repairs to the veneer and there is some slight staining- refer to images for more detail on this piece. This pair of early 19th century Italian raised chests would be beautiful as nightstands to a bedroom, or complimenting a seating arrangement.
