1820's French Burl-Wood Marble Top Commode
A smaller-sized French burl wood veneered commode, with its original marble top, from the early 19th century. This antique chest from France retains its original black marble top, which rests above a case that houses four dove-tailed drawers (each with escutcheon keyhole at center) flanked within canted front side posts, and raised upon a flat molded base. The entire from of the chest, including the drawers, side posts and base, are all finished in a lovely burled wood veneer, which is complimentary to the grain of the sides. This early 19th century French commode is a great option where a smaller sized chest is needed as it measures approximately 2.75 feet in width, and a shallow depth of just under 1.5 feet.
