French Empire Period Chest w/Black Accents
A French Empire period commode, with black and brass accents, from the early 19th century. This antique chest from France features a rectangular-shaped top, with case which houses three graduated drawers, with upper drawers flanked within front side posts emphasized with brass acanthus leaf accents. The drawers are each fitted with a decorative keyhole escutcheon at center. The skirt is clean and straight, with carved brackets at each leg. This piece is presented upon four tapering squared legs. There are black accents outlining the top edge, the top drawer, and around the top of each leg. This early 19th century French Empire chest-of-drawers is a versatile case piece which would work well in many rooms; offering great storage within and a place for desired objects to be prominently displayed atop.
