18th C. French Louis XV Commode
A French Louis XV serpentine commode, with elaborately carved drawer fronts, from the 18th century. This antique chest from France, designed with the curvy and ornate details typical of the Louis XV period, has a subtle serpentine-shaped body, with softly rounded front corners at top and down each side post. The case houses three dove-tailed, full-sized raised-panel drawers; each embellished in acanthus scrolls and foliage motif with beautifully framed hearts featured at center. Each drawer is fitted with a pair of elegant Rococo pulls and a single escutcheon within the heart-shaped centers. The front skirt is nicely-carved at front. The chest is raised on petitely-carved cabriole legs at front, with squared legs at rear. There is a new custom finish in neutral beige/wood tones. Please note that there is a backside board (at bottom) which has previously been replaced, and one of the back legs has been replaced and strengthened. This 18th century French Louis XV commode, with its soft curves and fabulous trimmings, will be a wonderful case piece for your home!
