18th C. French Serpentine Commode in Cream

A French Neoclassical painted serpentine commode from the 18th century. This antique chest from France has a ruffled serpentine-fronted top, with case below continuing the design downward, and housing three dove-tailed, full-sized drawers. Drawer fronts are decoratively paneled and fitted with Neoclassical hardware. The apron is scalloped on three sides with petite flower accents at front center of apron. The chest is raised on petite cabriole legs. The really pretty cream and brown finish is older (vintage/not original). There is an old patina which is a lovely reflection of the centuries old age and use. This 18th century French commode, with ruffled serpentine front, is a charming piece which could easily beautify just about any room of the house.
