French Painted 2-Drawer Chest, 19th C.
A French smaller-sized, painted wood, raised chest of two drawers from the 19th century. This antique commode from France, designed in clean lines, has a rectangular-shaped top with softly rounded edges, over a case which houses two full-sized drawers, and is raised upon four gently-tapering, squared legs that terminate into peg style feet. The drawer fronts are fitted with Neoclassical (likely original) metal ring pulls with backplates and a matching escutcheon at their center. The wood has a custom painted finish, primarily in green, taupe, and grey, with more of a brown/taupe accent trim. This 19th century French raised chest is a cute-sized piece, at approximately 2.5 feet in width, and would be a lovely addition to a bedroom, or perhaps in a foyer or living area with decorative items atop and storage within.
