Italian Hand-Painted Serpentine Side Chest

An Italian Neoclassical style, small-sized, hand-painted serpentine chest, from the mid 20th century. This vintage chest from Italy has a shallow serpentine design which is echoed down through the middle of the each drawer, and has been decorated throughout the top, drawer fronts, and sides with various hand-painted Roman figures, profiled within wreathed frames, embellished with scrolling foliage and outlined boarders. There are three drawers, each fitted with petite floral knob pulls. The skirting is straight and neat. This piece is presented upon four squared, tapering legs with inwardly profiled knees. This mid 20th century Italian serpentine chest has petite proportions which would allow it to work well as a nightstand, side chest next to your favorite chair, or perhaps as a sweet place to store toiletries in a powder room.
